INDEPENDENT, LOCAL, SUSTAINABLE

Oberlin's historic Ben Franklin store opened in 1935. In 2001, owner Krista Long took over and moved in with her new and used bookstore MindFair Books. Today, Ben Franklin has a little bit of just about everything: classic variety goods, fair trade gifts, unique toys and games, fabric and yarn, office and school supplies, art supplies, houseplants, a custom frame shop, and more.

Our friendly staff is well-known for excellent customer service, and if you don’t see what you need we will try to get it for you from one of our suppliers. We love getting to know our customers. Stop in today!

About

A SOCIAL GATHERING SPACE

As an independent small town store in the age of online shopping and big box stores, we are looking to redefine brick and mortar. The new gazebo in the center of the store has quickly become known as a community gathering space and great place to hang out with friends. We host book and poetry readings, mini concerts, knitting group gatherings, and more. We have a piano, and you are welcome to play it anytime. Or just stop by for a little rest and relaxation - we have free wifi that you're welcome to use. You can grab a snack from our extensive selection and make yourself at home.
